7 Seas

7 Seas It’s been closed for more then three years now, and Critical Miami still misses the 1800 Club, that bastion of misplaced glory. A better place to sink into a booth for gin and hushed conversation this city has never seen. To add insult to injury, the site will be home to a monstrosity bearing the same name (and calm yourself – it’s all sold out).

But. No sense living in the past, so we give you the 7 Seas, a sort of 1800 Club crossed with Sloppy Joe’s on Key West, crossed with a Toys R Us. Dark and spooky on weeknights and teeming with all sorts of folks on the weekends, 7 Seas decor is inspired by a thrift store. A back room holds three stacked TV sets, candles, and assorted piles of stuff. And don’t get us started on the outdoor patio. Kick-ass.

ummm. no thanks. this bar is forbidden from print or blogrint, whatever this is. taking a photo there causes it to vanish ever so slightly. totally taboo. death becomes you. i guess “the devil” made you do it. but blogs have delete keys. press it, c’mon, before we get choo.

This place looks pretty sharp so we’ll give it a try. Ever since the Holiday Inn lounge started charging us for pretzels, me and the White Belt Club have been looking for another place to hang. You’d think there’d be any number of joints would be happy to host maybe 20 guys in their 50s and 60s who just wanna throw some darts, spin some 50s sides, smoke cigars, and drink some Buds a few times a week, but there just ain’t. Thanks for the tip! See ya at the 7 Seas!

That photo of the joint looks exactly like the main bar of the Polish American Club back in Chi. Maybe my club down here needs to check it out. Don’t know about hanging out with them White Belt fart huffers but we can take care of that shit if we need to. Peace and Perogis.

I used to like the backyard better when it was full of toilets and trash. Part of the 7seas charm. But it’s still a cool dive bar. Only complaint is the waterered-down drinks but it’s expected I guess.

Meanwhile, as you are viewing this others are talking about you poorly; all of you. However, tomorrow when you meet with your doctor you will get that which was paid for – but enough of that; how about that Cohen guys art objects, are they really ‘all that’!

I’m with bar guy on this one. Do you see comment number 4? With “directions from South Beach”? Trouble is already brewing.

7 Seas is totally my neighborhood bar – so it’s close to my heart. The great folks that run the place will get more business on account of this blog. Who cares if there’s a couple of SoBers hanging around in the ’ Seas? Anyway, they won’t stay cause it’s more than a little fucked up.
