For the record, I think all of those things were terrible. It was a clever (if tasteless) thing the first time they did it with the cows, every example since then has had all the tackiness with none of the originality.
I’m not sure, but to the best of my memory the rooster case is slightly worse then most of the others because 1) it was funded out of money intended to help the poor and 2) they were all done by the same artist, work for hire.
The link that you included in your post for Firehouse 4 is actually for Miami-Dade Fire Rescue’s Station 4 (Miami-Dade County), not for the City of Miami’s Station 4. Nonetheless, I appreciate the link because it allowed me to see a bunch of interesting stuff. You may want to note the difference in your post, though, to keep things in order.
You are reading Critical Miami -- commentary about culture, politics, and hedonistic pursuits in our city, written by Alesh Houdek. See about for more info or e-mail suggestions or questions.
I’m sorry, but these things are sooooo ugly.
There’s another one outside El Pub on Calle Ocho and 16th Ave.
Chicago had cows
DC had pandas
Ocala has horses
Seattle had pigs
Gables had flamingos (I think MB did too)
What’s the problem?
nonee~

Personally I have a problem with “money to help the poor”. The poor need to help them selves.
As far as the roosters go, ugly!
