Oktoberfest weekend

Tonight
- Oktoberfest celebration at the German-American social club, all this weekend and next. German food, Maßs of beer, carnival rides, singing, dancing, general drunkenness, and two bands from Austria. No schedule available, I guess you just spend the whole weekend, sleeping on the floor and waking up for more beer. It may not look quite like this, but it’ll probably be close.
- Tom Scicluna’s opening at Carol Jazzar’s.
- David Alan Grier at Miami Improv.
- iTango at the Gusman.
Has anyone heard of this, because for something claiming to be “best Argentine tango dancers and musicians in the world,” this does not Google well?iTango website.
Saturday
- Tigertail presents blues legend James Blood Ulmer. To not be missed; this guy is the real deal, and, not to put too find a point on it, but this may be the only chance you’ll ever have to see him live (pre-purchasing tickets at the website strongly suggested, unless you want to be like me and about 60 people waiting in line when tickets sold out at their Bill Frisell show last year).
- Books and Books 25th anniversary(!) party. Live music, food, drinks, yadda yadda. 7 pm to midnight. B&B has lots of rabid fans, so this should be fun.
- Begins more Pablo Cano performances at MoCA. Through December.
- Dylan Ace at the Byron Carlyle Theater.
- Patti LaBelle at the Hard Rock.
- Maroon 5 at Bank Atlantic Center. Smart people saw them a few months ago at Studio A, now the rest of us can pay $50.
Sunday
- Hold on to your hats, the Herald Hunt is back. Get your smartest friends together for this — it’s hard.
- Also part of the Books&Books celebration, a meta-book club meeting at 11 am.
- Organic food sampling, “Bountiful Harvest Celebration,” at Oleta River Park.
- The Miami Bach Society presents an extremely site-appropriate performance of Italian baroque chamber pieces at Vizcaya. $30, but trust me, this should be spectacular. Call (305-669-1376) to get tickets, because it’ll probably sell out soon.
- New World Symphony does tango (also: a Debussy string quartet).
- Brazarte Dance Company presents Vitoria Regia — dionysian dance based on the Amazon legend.
Cat power at Studio A.oops monday thx G- Darktronica Halloween Music Festival at Pawnshop — live music by Formula Redux, Boy Prostitute, Media Whore, Lovers Like You, Big Bang Radio, Shattered Glass Playground and Fallz, plus DJs, art exhibition and live painting, Japanese rope suspension, fetish show by Rebecca’s Rubber Room, dancers, interactive performance with CircX, risque cabaret, etc. “Dress the part.”

Dumber people judge folks on their music taste.
I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade, but Oktoberfest takes place mostly in the month of September and ends on the first Sunday in October. So yea… you’d think the German-American Social Club would know that.
what… do you really like Marron 5
