“With a few more words it would have been an appropriate letter of resignation.” – an anonymous commenter on Timoney’s letter of appology.

I don’t exactly understand why everyone is making such a big deal out of this. Timoney has lowered crime in Miami. So he drove this Lexus without paying for it, whatever, as long as the crime is down and he’s not paying for it (the Lexus) with taxpayer’s money. I honestly believe that every politician and person of power, such as Timoney, all have some sort of dirt on their hands. Some more than others. As long as he keeps the scum somewhat off the street, I don’t have a problem with him. When he starts using my money to buy a Lexus, then we’ll have a problem.

Sure he could do a better job, like get foot patrols in high crime areas, but never the less he did lower crime.

That’s pretty classic post hoc ergo propter hoc, Kremlin. Crime is down across the country, and I suspect Timoney doesn’t get credit for all of that, either.

I appreciate the “as long as I’m not getting fucked, do whatever you want” sentiment, though.

Correction: As long as most of us aren’t getting fucked….
