Click the picture. It’s Florida. Now zoom all the way in. This is a plane that crashed 26 years ago.

that can’t possibly be true.
everything seems fake.
everything!
I’m going to drive up there an see if I can find it!
Well, google map images tend to be a couple of years old, so no guarantees that the plane is still there.
Could the plain have sat there for a long time? Of course it is — crap lays around uninhabited areas all the time. This is where google maps is disorienting; in two ways: sense of perspective, and sense of scale.
Perspective: The same reality is very different when you’re experiencing it from street level vs. seeing it from straight above at essentially infinite distance.
Scale: That lake is dwarfed by Okeechobee, but it’s still huge — much bigger then any lake near Miami. Nobody owns the water, and whoever owns the land around it doesn’t actually see the plane — it’s almost a quarter mile from the plane to the closest podunk dirt road. Strange but true.
Major CM kudos to anyone who gets a photo of the plane from the ground. Caution: it may be gone, and might be a wasted trip.
most likely a drug plane? the Bahamas are full of them.
