Bellsouth romantic

bellsouth mailpiece

I got this incredibly pathetic card in the mail from Bellsouth yesterday and I just had to share it. It’s not new — anyone who’s gotten rid of their land line over the last few years has probably seen it, but it’s worth going into anyway. Here’s the slide-show, with my comentary.

All kidding aside, when they say “We promise to be really really good to you from now on,” they are full of shit. I have Bellsouth’s web hosting at work, and recently we’ve had problems with the e-mail. Turns out we were over our drive space quota, which is (wait for it) . . . 500 megabytes. This is for a $19.99/month plan. Dreamhost charges $7.95 for their cheapest plan, and they give you 160 gigabytes. And they increase it automatically every month. Here’s an article about Bellsouth- from two years ago. Since then they’ve been purchased by AT&T;, but it’s all the same crap.

Did this come in one of those “handwritten” envelopes with a fake stamp on it?

It gets me every time and drives me crazy!

I clicked through … that is actually quite creepy!

I’m jealous! I ditched them and they haven’t tried to romance me back!

I wish I could get rid of them. not that the alternative is much better anyways.

I got one of those too. WTF??? They look like wedding invitations. And I naively thought their marketing department was targeting women with the cutesy pink card campaign…

Bell South is a pack of moron whose lives are nothing more than failure and misplaced energy.

Bryant, tell us how you really feel. :-)

Bellsouth Hosting (now the new AT&T) does suck; but they’re not really in the hosting business. It’s just a value-add service that I’m pretty sure they farm out to another company.

I agree with you on Dreamhost. I work at a hosting company and I use Dreamhost instead of our own product for my site and all my outside contract sites.

Dreamhost does need to step up their Ruby on Rails support. It took me forever to get my blog package running correctly on DH.

    Habla Mierda~

That’s an interesting theory — I do note that the support # for the web hosting is different from other services.

Re. Ruby, you might find this interesting: 5 Question Interview with Twitter Developer Alex Payne. The biggest site running RoR, and he’s pretty critical.
