Looks like The Dirt hasn’t posted anything in awhile and — wait, WHAT?! Critical Miami got a namecheck in New York magazine?? w00t to that shit, plus my eternal public thanks to anyone who can send me a scan of the full page with said reference. Update: Here’s the “oh, SNAP!” link: New York Travel, Miami. Since The Dirt is dead, and MB-Miami is strictly coasting on the coattails of the worldwide MB empire, does this mean that Val and I are the big men in town?

Yep, that’s exactly what that means! Congrats, Alesh!

Slowly, your rivals are eliminated. One by one. Almost as though someone were planning it all.. .

Well, that depends. Bring out a ruler and make sure you haven’t been out in the cold for a while. :-)

Not so fast there, Mr. Big (as if…). In our opinion, the only Miami blog in Critical condition is you. Ciao.

New York magazine needs to improve its English:

“Get a local’s insights on cultural and politics at Critical Miami.”

Of course, it should be culture not “cultural.”

    Congratulations anyway.

Alesh and The Dirt. Apparent rivals. And yet. We still don’t know who The Dirt is. Could it be. . ..

    We’re back~

The Dirt, “for sale”?? What, exactly, is for sale? The domain? Someone’s going to give you money for it? Why?

  9. FER    Sun Dec 17, 12:12 PM #

My thoughts exactly, alesh. Unless the writer plans on staying on as a writer, what equity is exactly the new owner buying?

  10. Hey    Sun Dec 17, 10:11 PM #

On SOTP the masthead they had said “sold,” which makes me think that they sold the concept of The Dirt? Or they were bought by some big corp that gave them big money for it? Like now they’re financed by a sugar daddy? Something along those lines….

If that’s the case, I had no idea that they were so unique or cutting edge to be bought up or financed like that. That they were such a hot commodity. It’s all either a regurgitation of what every other gossip blog has or gossip about the same 5 people in south beach. Which… yawn.

Maybe they just got tired of doing it, and “SOLD” is a metaphor for “COOKED.”

Paid off to keep their mouths shut? And yes, yawn.

TLC owns Miami Ink so maybe FX wanted to own Dirt. Who knows … and seriously, in a population of millions, maybe about 2.4 people cared about nightclub owner gossip?
