A mockup from a piece in this month’s Wired Magazine (click for spectacular full-size). “Miami, for example, had only five skyscrapers (buildings more than 150 meters, or 492 feet, tall) in 1999 but will have 71 by 2012.”

What is that double-barreled shotgun thing sticking up by the arena?

A project that will most likely not get built. Something to do with flight paths. Overall this is very impressive and they didn’t even go north of 395 where a bunch more are slated to rise. Without taxpayer subsidies. I love free markets.

Very cool, thanks. I hope they build them, though I assume that a lot of these projects will be cancelled or changed between now and 2012.
