It was not meant to be a premiere in the real sense—just an excuse for a fundraiser. It had nothing to do with Miami Vice per se—it was just a good opportunity that the doctor seized. This sort of thing happens all the time. This time, it just had to do with Miami Vice. If it hadn’t been for the fundraiser, there probably wouldn’t have been anything but the typical sneak preview and Friday opening.
But yeah … call us crazy! Shouldn’t the film have banged out some publicity bucks to hold a real shabang in the magic city? Instead, it had the usual, run of the mill red carpet premiere in LA.
