Assembly line of new lifeguard stands for South Beach in Flamingo Park. Bummer: they’re cookie-cutter, not reconstructions of the iconic whimsical designs.

   You remember of course, that the unofficial motto of da Beach is a wistful, “Ah, you should’ve been here back when…”
   They’ll probably end up with corporate logos painted all over ‘em. Or ads for high-end condos on the waters edge… come to think of it, I think it must be time for my semi-annual re-read of John D. MacDonald’s “Condominium.”
